Drioglann Oileán Acla (Achill Island Distillery) in the West of Ireland is situated on the Atlantic island of Achill, Co Mayo. Uniquely it is currently the only island whiskey distillery operating in Ireland with a capacity to produce 300,000L per annum.

Founded by John McKay in 2015 it is one of the few Irish owned and family run distilleries in Ireland. Despite being a new distillery it already produces award winning whiskeys. As a result it’s Irish American Classic and Irish American 10 Year Old whiskey are proving popular in the US market.

Although this was a start up distillery on a green field site it required Rockbrook’s distillery team to provide a full automation system design. The scope of works for the project included electrical control panels, pneumatics as well as the OT network design. In addition we also took care of the PLC’s and connection of the existing plant to the new control system.
